The Newell Law Firm

DAVID M. NEWELL

The son of Judge Paul Newell and Rose Newell, David grew up in the law business. He graduated Louisiana State University Law School in 1983, and opened his own practice in Homer.  He began his practice as the Indigent Defender in Homer and moved into an Assistant District Attorney position in 1991, while maintaining a large Civil Law practice.

Today he specializes in Real Estate and Business Contracts. David has represented several large corporate clients, and believes in preventive law practice, rather than having the much greater expense of solving problems after they arise.  He has handled trials in several different states, in Federal Court, Bankruptcy Court, State Courts of Appeal and in numerous District Courts throughout the State of Louisiana, including arbitration and mediation, and has substantial trial court experience.

David was born and raised in Haynesville and has resided in Homer since graduation from law school in 1983.  He has a very strong work record as well as a lengthy list of community efforts.  He is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Homer.  He is a family man, married to Kelly with six kids.  He works with high energy and a positive outlook.
